Screen Movie is designed to help you record, edit, and create beautiful videos on your Mac while respecting your privacy.
We believe your recordings, projects, and personal content should stay yours. Screen Movie is built as a local-first macOS app, and your creative content stays on your device.
Information We Collect
Screen Movie does not collect, store, sell, or share the content of your recordings or projects.
Your screen recordings, screenshots, camera recordings, microphone recordings, voiceovers, imported media, timeline content, and project files are processed locally on your Mac.
We do not upload this content to our servers.
Local Data
Screen Movie may store project files, recordings, screenshots, imported media, app preferences, settings, templates, and other configuration data locally on your Mac.
This data stays on your device and is used only to provide the features of the app.
You are responsible for managing and backing up your local Screen Movie files.
Screen Recording
Screen Movie may request Screen & System Audio Recording permission through macOS in order to capture your display, application windows, selected areas, or system audio.
Screen content is processed locally and is not automatically uploaded or shared with us.
Camera and Microphone
If you choose to use camera recording, microphone recording, or voiceover features, Screen Movie may request access to your Mac's camera and microphone.
Camera and microphone content is used only for the recording features you choose to use and remains stored locally on your device.
Files and Media
Screen Movie may request access to files, folders, photos, videos, audio files, or other media when you choose to import content into a project or export your finished movie.
The app only accesses content you select or explicitly allow through macOS permissions.

These permissions are used only to provide the related Screen Movie features.
You can review or revoke these permissions at any time in macOS System Settings.
Payments and Licensing
Screen Movie is sold as a one-time purchase.
Payments and license management are handled by Polar.
We do not store your full payment card information. Polar may collect information necessary to process your purchase, handle taxes, issue refunds, and manage your Screen Movie license.
Polar operates under its own privacy policy and terms.
License Activation
Screen Movie may communicate with our licensing provider to verify and manage your license.
License-related information may include data necessary to identify and validate an activation, such as your license key, device activation status, and related purchase information.
A Screen Movie license may be limited to a specific number of Macs and macOS user accounts depending on the license you purchased.
Your recordings, projects, screenshots, camera footage, and other creative content are not included in license verification.
Analytics
Screen Movie does not track the content of your recordings or projects.
We do not use your recorded screen content, microphone recordings, camera recordings, screenshots, or project media for analytics.
If the Screen Movie website uses basic privacy-friendly analytics, it may collect anonymous or aggregated information such as page views, browser type, device type, referrer, or general website usage.
No content from your local Screen Movie projects is included in website analytics.
Crash Reports and Feedback
If you choose to send feedback or diagnostic information, Screen Movie may include technical information that helps us understand and fix issues, such as:

Diagnostic information should not intentionally include the content of your recordings or projects.
Any feedback you send directly to us may also include information you choose to provide, such as your email address and message.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
We do not share your Screen Movie projects or recordings with advertisers.
We do not use your recordings or project content for advertising.
We do not train AI models on your recordings, screenshots, camera footage, audio recordings, or project content.
We may only share limited information with service providers when necessary to operate services such as payments, licensing, website hosting, or customer support.
Data Retention
Your Screen Movie projects and locally stored content remain on your Mac until you delete them.
Removing Screen Movie may not automatically delete exported videos or project files stored elsewhere on your Mac.
Information processed by third-party providers such as Polar is subject to their own retention policies.
Security
Because Screen Movie processes your creative content locally, your recordings and projects are not stored on Screen Movie servers.
However, no software or storage system can guarantee absolute security. We recommend keeping your Mac and macOS account secure and maintaining backups of important projects.
Children’s Privacy
Screen Movie is not intended for children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Screen Movie changes or new features are introduced.
If we make meaningful changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
