Welcome to Screen Movie.


These Terms of Service explain the rules for using Screen Movie, our website, and any related services. By downloading, purchasing, activating, or using Screen Movie, you agree to these terms.

If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use Screen Movie.


1. About Screen Movie


Screen Movie is a native macOS screen recording, video editing, and motion design application.

It allows you to record your screen, application windows, selected areas, camera, microphone, and audio, and create edited videos using timelines, motion effects, text, images, screenshots, music, captions, and other creative tools.


2. License


When you purchase Screen Movie, you receive a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app according to the license type shown at the time of purchase.


A 1 Device license may be activated on:

  • one Mac

  • one macOS user account/profile

at a time.


If you purchase a license that supports multiple devices, the number of allowed activations will be shown during purchase.


You may not:

  • copy, resell, rent, lease, distribute, or sublicense Screen Movie

  • share your license key with other people

  • use one license across more devices or macOS user accounts than permitted

  • bypass or interfere with the licensing or activation system

  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code

  • modify Screen Movie for redistribution

  • remove copyright, branding, ownership, or license notices

  • use Screen Movie in a way that violates applicable laws or third-party rights


3. One-Time Purchase


Screen Movie is sold as a one-time purchase unless otherwise clearly stated at checkout.

There is no recurring monthly or yearly subscription fee for the license purchased under this pricing model.


Your purchase gives you access to the app according to the license terms and features included with the offer you purchased.


4. Lifetime Updates


Where a Screen Movie purchase is advertised as including lifetime updates, this means updates released for Screen Movie while the product continues to be developed and supported.

Lifetime refers to the lifetime of the product, not the lifetime of the customer.


We may change, improve, redesign, replace, add, or remove individual features over time.

Lifetime updates do not guarantee that Screen Movie will support every future macOS version, Mac model, third-party service, or technology indefinitely.


5. Early-Bird Pricing


Screen Movie may occasionally be offered with limited early-bird pricing.


Prices may increase when a pricing tier or limited number of spots sells out.


Purchasing earlier may therefore result in a lower price than purchasing later.


Once you have completed your purchase, later price increases will not change the amount you already paid for your license.


6. Purchases and Payments


Payments, taxes, invoices, and license management may be handled by Polar.


We do not directly store your full payment card information.


The price shown during checkout is the price applicable to your purchase, including any applicable discounts or promotions.


Taxes may be calculated and added where required.


Prices, promotions, availability, and license options may change at any time for future purchases.


7. Refunds


Screen Movie includes a 14-day money-back guarantee unless otherwise stated during checkout.


If Screen Movie does not fit your workflow, you may contact us within 14 days of your purchase and request a refund.


Approved refunds are normally processed through the original payment provider.

We may refuse refund requests made after the stated refund period, except where required by applicable law.


8. License Activation


Screen Movie may require license activation.


The app may communicate with our licensing provider to validate your license, manage activations, and prevent unauthorized use.


If you replace your Mac or stop using Screen Movie on a device, you may be able to deactivate that device and activate another one, subject to the limits of your license.


Abuse of the activation system, excessive activation attempts, sharing licenses, or attempts to bypass license restrictions may result in suspension or termination of the license.


9. Local Projects and Files


Screen Movie is designed as a local-first application.


Your recordings, projects, screenshots, imported media, camera footage, audio, timeline content, and exported videos are generally stored and processed locally on your Mac.


You are responsible for:

  • managing your project files

  • keeping backups of important recordings and projects

  • ensuring sufficient storage space

  • protecting your Mac and macOS user account


We are not responsible for lost, deleted, corrupted, overwritten, or inaccessible local project files.


10. Screen, Camera, Microphone, and System Permissions


Some Screen Movie features require macOS permissions.


Depending on the features you use, Screen Movie may request access to:

  • Screen & System Audio Recording

  • Microphone

  • Camera

  • Files and Folders

  • Photos or media libraries

  • other permissions required by macOS


You are responsible for choosing which permissions to grant.


Permissions can be reviewed or revoked through macOS System Settings.


Some Screen Movie features may not work correctly if required permissions are not granted.


11. Your Recordings and Content


You retain ownership of the recordings, videos, screenshots, images, audio, projects, and other content you create or import into Screen Movie.

Screen Movie does not claim ownership of your content.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights or permissions to record, import, edit, reproduce, publish, or distribute any content used with Screen Movie.


This includes content involving:

  • other people

  • copyrighted material

  • music

  • trademarks

  • confidential information

  • recorded conversations

  • websites or applications

  • third-party media


You are responsible for complying with applicable privacy, copyright, recording consent, and other laws.


12. Built-In Assets and Templates


Screen Movie may include motion templates, presets, backgrounds, visual effects, graphics, icons, animations, music, or other creative assets.


Unless otherwise stated, these assets may be used as part of videos created and exported with Screen Movie.


You may not extract, redistribute, resell, sublicense, or offer Screen Movie's built-in assets or templates as standalone files or competing asset packs.


13. Third-Party Content


If you import third-party images, videos, music, fonts, graphics, or other assets into Screen Movie, you are responsible for having the appropriate rights to use them.


Screen Movie does not grant you additional rights to third-party content simply because it can be imported or edited using the app.


14. Third-Party Services


Screen Movie may use or integrate with third-party services for areas such as:

  • payments

  • licensing

  • application updates

  • crash reporting

  • website hosting

  • customer support

  • optional external services


Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.


We are not responsible for their availability, outages, pricing, API changes, security, or data practices.


15. App Updates and Changes


We may release updates, fixes, performance improvements, design changes, and new features for Screen Movie.


Some updates may be necessary for compatibility with newer versions of macOS or Apple hardware.


Features may occasionally be changed, replaced, removed, or redesigned.

We do not guarantee that every feature available today will remain unchanged forever.


16. Compatibility


We aim to support the macOS versions and Mac hardware listed on the Screen Movie website or product page.


However, compatibility may change as Apple releases new versions of macOS, hardware, frameworks, APIs, or security requirements.


We do not guarantee compatibility with:

  • every Mac

  • every macOS version

  • beta versions of macOS

  • unsupported or modified systems

  • every third-party application

  • every display, camera, microphone, or audio device


17. Beta and Early Access Features


Screen Movie may occasionally include beta, experimental, preview, or early-access features.

These features may be incomplete, unstable, changed, or removed without notice.


You should not rely on beta features for critical or irreplaceable work without keeping suitable backups.


18. Your Responsibility


You are responsible for how you use Screen Movie and the content you create with it.


You agree not to use Screen Movie for:

  • illegal activities

  • unauthorized surveillance or recording

  • infringement of copyrights or other rights

  • harmful, abusive, or fraudulent activity

  • interference with the app, website, servers, payment systems, or licensing systems

  • bypassing license restrictions or technical protections


19. Availability


We work to keep Screen Movie reliable and available, but we cannot guarantee that the app, website, licensing service, update service, or third-party services will always operate without interruption.

Screen Movie is provided “as is” and “as available.”


20. No Warranty


To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Screen Movie is provided without warranties of any kind.


We do not guarantee that Screen Movie will:

  • meet every individual requirement

  • work without errors or interruptions

  • be compatible with every device or configuration

  • produce a specific creative or commercial result

  • prevent all project or data loss


21. Limitation of Liability


To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages related to the use of Screen Movie.


This includes, without limitation:

  • lost or corrupted recordings

  • lost project files

  • lost revenue or profits

  • missed deadlines

  • business interruption

  • device or software issues

  • third-party copyright claims

  • problems caused by macOS updates or third-party services


Our total liability for claims related to Screen Movie will not exceed the amount you paid for your Screen Movie license.


Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded under applicable consumer law.


22. Privacy


Your privacy is important to us.

Please read the Screen Movie Privacy Policy for information about how Screen Movie handles local content, permissions, licensing information, payments, diagnostics, and other data.


23. Termination


We may suspend or terminate a Screen Movie license if you:

  • violate these Terms

  • share or resell your license

  • abuse the licensing system

  • attempt to bypass activation limits

  • use the app in an illegal or harmful way


You may stop using Screen Movie at any time.


Termination does not affect obligations that reasonably continue after termination.


24. Changes to These Terms


We may update these Terms of Service when Screen Movie changes, when new features are introduced, or when legal or operational requirements change.


When we make changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.


Continued use of Screen Movie after updated terms become effective means you accept the updated terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
